Headwaters Plastic Surgery provides:

Hand & Upper Limb Surgery

Hand & Upper Limb – Traumatic injuries, amputations, fractures, lacerations, chemical or thermal burns, tendon and nerve injuries, arthritis reconstruction and much more.

Carpal Tunnel – Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a condition due to compression of the median nerve as it travels through the wrist at the carpal tunnel. The main symptoms are pain, numbness, and tingling in the thumb, index finger, middle finger and the thumb side of the ring finger. It can be treated surgically and non-surgically.

Dupuytren’s Disease – is a condition in which one or more fingers become permanently bent in a flexed position. It usually begins as small hard nodules just under the skin of the palm. It then worsens over time until the fingers can no longer be straightened. We provide non-surgical treatment with Xiaflex, as well as needle aponeurotomy and fascial excision.

Ganglions – A common benign tumour filled with a jelly like substance which can be treated conservatively, aspirated or surgically removed.

Trigger Finger – is a condition that causes pain, stiffness, and a sensation of locking or catching when you bend and straighten your finger. The condition is also known as “stenosing tenosynovitis”. Surgical and non-surgical options are available for treatment.

Reconstructive Surgery

Burn – The size and depth of burn dictate the need for appropriate care whether it be surgical with skin grafting or assisting with specialized dressings to allow the body to heal itself.

Breast Reconstruction – the goals of breast reconstruction are to help restore confidence and a feeling of being whole again. There are several different types of surgery used to reconstruct the breast using both your own tissues and breast implants. Each individual has unique medical and personal factors which help to decide the appropriate reconstruction options.

Breast Reduction – some women have heavy breasts that can lead to upper back, neck and shoulder pain. OHIP covers breast reductions if you meet certain health criteria.

Skin Cancers – Melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, and squamous cell carcinoma are the most common skin cancers. Surgery is the gold standard treatment for the majority of skin cancers. All are caused primarily by UV exposure from the sun and risk can be minimized by the use of sunscreen and avoidance of sun at peak hours.

Cosmetic Procedures & Surgery

Botox and Latisse – Our clinic offers botox help to preserve your youthful appearance by correcting for crow’s feet, frown lines, and forehead lines. We also can provide you with Latisse a prescription treatment to grow eyelashes for people with inadequate or not enough lashes.

Cyst, lipoma, skin tag, and mole removal – Many individuals have small benign lumps and bumps (lesions) that are bothersome from a cosmetic perspective. These are not covered by OHIP. Such procedures are usually done with local anesthesia and require minimal recovery time.

Body contouring and liposuction – This surgical technique used to remove unwanted deposits of fat from almost any area of the body. It’s important to know that this is not a substitute for weight reduction, but a method for removing localized deposits of fatty tissue that haven’t responded to diet or exercise. An ideal candidate is a person in good health and of relatively normal weight who has excess fat in particular body areas. Having firm, elastic skin will result in a better final contour after liposuction. It is important to understand that this is not a weight loss surgery.

Breast Augmentation – also called breast enlargement is carried out to increase the fullness of the breasts or to restore breast volume after weight loss or pregnancy. Breast augmentation will not correct for sagging breasts, a breast lift could be considered. It is important to keep in mind implants are not permanent and may require replacement during your lifetime. Likewise, your breasts can change due to aging, weight, gravity, and hormone fluctuations, therefore it is important to attend follow-up visits as scheduled.

Breast Lift (mastopexy) – is a surgical procedure to reshape and raise breasts by tightening the skin and repositioning the breast tissue and nipple. Reasons an individual may consider this procedure include: weight change, pregnancy and nursing, and aging. It can also help to correct asymmetries of the breasts (they appear to be different sizes and/or shape). Certain asymmetries are partially covered by OHIP. If you want your breast to look fuller or smaller, you may want to consider breast augmentation.

Tummy Tuck (abdominoplasty) – helps to remove excess fat and skin to create a firmer and smoother abdominal profile. This however is not a substitute for weight loss and it cannot correct stretch marks unless it is located in the area where the excess skin is to be removed.

Mommy Makeover – is a combination of procedures that enhance the appearance of a woman’s breasts and tummy after childbirth. A typical Mommy Makeover includes a tummy tuck combined with a breast procedure, such as breast reduction, breast augmentation and/or, breast lift. Modest liposuction may also be combined with the surgery, or done as a follow-up procedure.
